gemeinwert / about
Open records for buildings that outlive software.
Gemeinwert is the DACH-facing brand. BIM-CVP is the English protocol name: the Common Value Protocol for signed construction records built on existing openBIM standards.
What BIM-CVP means.
BIM-CVP stands for Common Value Protocol. "Common" does not mean one central authority decides what a building record is worth. It means the project uses common rails so many participants can state, verify and reuse the information that matters to them.
The economic frame is Austrian: value is contextual and discovered through action, exchange and responsibility, not assigned by a platform. In construction, that matters because the same IFC model, BCF topic or IDS result has different value for an owner, planner, contractor, operator and insurer. CVP records those claims as signed evidence so the market around the asset can coordinate on facts.
This line connects to Rahim Taghizadegan's work around the Austrian School and Lightning/Nostr: keep the protocol small, preserve individual responsibility, and let value signals emerge from verifiable records rather than institutional lock-in. Why it exists.
Buildings last decades. The coordination records around them often live inside vendor portals, subscription accounts and project folders that disappear long before the asset reaches mid-life.
BIM-CVP keeps the practical records of a building — issues, approvals, requirements, site logs, file references and handover material — signed, portable and readable without binding the project to one software provider.
What it does not replace.
It does not replace Revit, Archicad, Allplan, Solibri, BIMcollab, Catenda, Trimble Connect, ACCA usBIM or Autodesk Construction Cloud. Authoring and review tools remain where they are useful.
It also does not fork IFC, BCF, IDS, ISO 19650 or openCDE. The job is to make those standards work as signed, traceable records across tools and providers.
Maintainer model.
- Project
- Gemeinwert as brand, BIM-CVP as protocol, MIT licensed.
- Maintainer
- Felix Hitthaler, HKLS / MEP and BIM engineer in South Tyrol.
- Provider track
- Bimbeam is the first service provider on top of BIM-CVP.
- Commercial rule
- The protocol is open. Services, hosting, audit and planning work compete above it.
